If you have decided that you want a vacation where you can choose the route, where you stay, and when, the next question is: should you choose a caravan or motorhome?
Caravan
Caravans come in many different styles, layouts and lengths. Depending on the length and size, you also need to consider traffic and maneuverability. With a caravan, it is easy to set up a campsite for a longer period and drive further by car to discover smaller towns, go to the seaside or hiking trails, go grocery shopping, etc.
If you are buying or renting a caravan, be sure to consider your budget. Renting a caravan is cheaper than renting a motorhome. In addition, caravans have the advantage of unlimited mileage, as caravans do not have engines that require maintenance.
Motorhome
Motorhomes are cozy, yet comfortable, and driving and maneuvering are more convenient than towing a trailer. For us, the difference between motorhomes and caravans also lies in the purpose of the trip: if you want to travel long distances and stop at designated camper campsites, a motorhome is the ideal solution. However, you must take into account that driving on narrow city streets with a large car is problematic. In addition, if you want to leave the campsite to visit new places, you will have to pack all your belongings with you. In the case of a caravan, you can leave the caravan stationary and come back to it at any time. Due to the car tax, the rental prices of motorhomes are also higher than those of caravans. When choosing the right motorhome, you must ensure that there are enough seats with seat belts.
When buying or renting a motorhome, we recommend finding a new one with lower mileage to avoid unpleasant surprises. Motorhomes are inherently larger than caravans, consume more fuel, and require constant maintenance.
